The 2022 Metaverse Global Congress wrapped on Wednesday. This year’s event, held at the San Jose Convention Centre, California, included a packed schedule of keynote speakers, presentations, panel sessions and networking opportunities. This year’s conference topics included: Monetization & Building Blocks; Experiential Marketing & Design; Applications & Technology; and Working & Training.
Metaverse Global Congress kicked-off on Tuesday with an opening keynote by founder, author and designer of Raine Magazine and rainedrops.io, Nova Lorraine. Other key day one sessions included Microsoft Group Project Manager Pouneh Minovi Kaufman’s “Make Collaboration in the ‘Metaverse’ Personal and Fun with Mesh” keynote presentation. On the 14th of March 2017, Microsoft launched Microsoft Teams, the chat-based collaboration platform we’ve all come to know and love/loathe during the Covid pandemic. Mesh for Teams was first announced in November 2021, and it allows users to collaborate in virtual spaces and access Teams from their mixed-reality glasses and virtual reality headsets.
Other day one sessions included a fireside chat, where Chief Client Officer at Acceleration Community of Companies, Monica Chun, Managing Director of Digital Transformation at Deloitte, Hanish Patel, and Chief Metaverse Officer at Vatom, Brian Wallace debated what brands need to understand about Web 3.0 and the Metaverse. The day closed with “Exploring Ethics in the Metaverse”, a presentation and Q&A with Director of Ethics and Social Policy at Metacampus.
Day two kicked-off with a keynote on “Predicting the Metaverse of Tomorrow”, which was followed by Robert Morreale, Sr Division Chair, Immersive and Experiential Learning and Assistant Professor of Biomedical Communications, describing how the Mayo Clinic plans to use immersive technologies to expand knowledge and create new capabilities.
Other day two sessions included a case study by Dan Holland, Dentsu Gaming Lead, on “How Brands and Consumers are Navigating the Roads to the Metaverse”, and a fireside chat, hosted by at Metacampus founder and CEO Pere Pérez Ninou, on how we can equip the current and future workforce to take on roles in the Web 3.0 ecosystem.
